Keith Bonin is a Professor of Physics and serves as Vice Provost for Research & Scholarly Inquiry at Wake Forest University, where he leads both academic research and institutional research strategy.
His research program spans optics and biophysics with three core thrusts:
- Molecular Biophysics: Investigating DNA double-strand break dynamics in cancer cell nuclei to understand genomic instability mechanisms
- Advanced Optical Imaging: Developing 3D fluorescent microscopy techniques using diffractive optical elements for high-resolution biological visualization
- Hemostasis Biomechanics: Analyzing structural properties of fibrin fibers and clot formation to elucidate thrombosis and hemostasis pathways
Dr. Bonin maintains extensive cross-institutional collaborations with Atrium Health/Wake Forest Baptist, University of Minnesota, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
In his administrative role as Vice Provost, he oversees Wake Forest University's research enterprise, driving interdisciplinary initiatives and scholarly innovation across campus.
