Kees de Bie

Kees de Bie is an Associate Professor in the Department of Natural Resources at the University of Twente. His research focuses on remote sensing applications for environmental monitoring, cartography, and agricultural systems. He has contributed to over 90 publications and actively collaborates on sustainable development goals related to food security and climate resilience.

Key research areas include tropical agriculture mapping using Sentinel satellite data, drought insurance frameworks via remote sensing, and vegetation classification techniques. He has pioneered methods like SPiCla for species-level vegetation mapping and GIACIS for drought risk assessment.
