Kedmon N. Hungwe

Kedmon N. Hungwe is a Professor in the Psychology and Human Factors department at Michigan Technological University. He also holds a Visiting Professor position at the Department of Secondary and Post-School Education, Rhodes University. Armed with a PhD from Michigan State University (1999), he previously served as a Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Zimbabwe before joining Michigan Tech in 2002.

• Research Interests: Cultural foundations of cognition, media theory and criticism, lifespan development theory, and STEM education, with a focus on cognitive-behavioral gaps, spatial skills development, and educational policy in African contexts.
• Funding: Currently involved in the CyberCorps®: Scholarship for Service (SFS) Program at Michigan Tech and previously led the Digital Literacy Project funded by the Carnegie Foundation at Rhodes University.
• Key Trends: His publications span pedagogical innovation, cognitive theory, African cinema analysis, and interdisciplinary STEM education research, emphasizing practical applications and cultural relevance.
• Projects: Collaborates with Rhodes University on digital literacy and with Michigan Tech’s Cognitive and Learning Sciences on curriculum reform and teacher training.
