Kazunari Domen

Kazunari Domen serves as a University Professor at The University of Tokyo and holds a cross-appointment as Special Contract Professor at the Research Initiative for Supra-Material (RISM), Shinshu University, Japan.

His research pioneers heterogeneous catalysis and materials chemistry with emphasis on surface reaction dynamics, photocatalysis, and mesoporous materials. Current work focuses on developing photocatalysts for water splitting and engineering practical solar hydrogen production systems, yielding over 800 publications with approximately 90,000 citations and an h-index of 139 (Web of Science, January 2023).
