Kayn Forbes

Kayn Forbes is a Lecturer in Theoretical Chemistry at the University of East Anglia's School of Chemistry, Pharmacy and Pharmacology. He holds affiliations with the Centre for Photonics and Quantum Science and the Chemistry of Light and Energy research groups. Forbes earned his PhD in 2018 under Professor David L. Andrews, focusing on quantum and classical methods to study light-matter interactions.

His research emphasizes nano-optics of structured light, optical vortices, chirality, plasmonics, and nanophotonics. He led the Leverhulme Trust-funded project 'Quantum theory for advanced molecular photonics: structured light and plasmonics' (2019–2022). He actively reviews for journals like Journal of Optics and has received multiple IOP Outstanding Reviewer Awards (2022–2023).

Notable achievements include the ABTA Doctoral Researcher Award (2018) and the Applied Sciences Travel Award (2020). His work spans theoretical and applied optics, with a focus on chiral interactions and quantum photonics.
