Kawla Alhamad

Kawla Alhamad is a Lecturer in the Special Education Department at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University in Saudi Arabia. She holds a graduate degree in Special Education from Seattle University (2017) and is currently a 1st-year Ph.D. student at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh.

Her research focuses on the impact of Augmented Reality (AR) Books on reading enjoyment, engagement, and comprehension for struggling readers. She is supervised by Dr. Sarah McGeown and Dr. Andrew Manches.

Kawla’s work bridges technology and education, particularly in using AR to enhance literacy outcomes for children with reading difficulties. Her fields of interest include innovative educational tools, reading comprehension strategies, and children's literature.
