About
Katya Ravid is a Professor of Medicine, Biochemistry, Biology, and Health Sciences at Boston University's Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, and Director of the Evans Center for Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research. She holds the Barbara E. Corkey Professorship in Medicine. Her education includes a DSc from the Technion and a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT.
Her research focuses on blood stem cells, thrombosis, and vascular biology. Key projects include studying megakaryocyte development and platelet biogenesis, as well as the role of adenosine receptors in inflammation and vascular disease. She utilizes transgenic mouse models and primary bone marrow cultures to explore these processes.
Dr. Ravid's work has contributed to understanding mechanisms underlying myeloproliferative disorders and cancer-associated thrombosis. Her lab's research integrates cellular biology, molecular genetics, and translational approaches to address vascular and hematological pathologies.
Her lab offers training opportunities through NIH grants and BU programs. Positions are available for postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, with a focus on recruiting underrepresented minorities. The lab is located at the Boston University Medical Campus.
