Katy Hammond

Katy Hammond is a Lecturer in Photography at Norwich University of the Arts (NUA), where she teaches on the BA (Hons) Photography course. Her research explores the anthropocentric gaze and the representation of non-human subjects through portraiture, alongside sustainable photographic practices. She has exhibited widely, including at venues such as Ovalo Gallery (Mexico) and Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital, and her work has been featured in publications like the NUA Pattern & Chaos anthology. Hammond has received several accolades, including the Photofusion Select/17 Bursary and IPA Awards recognition.

Her practice bridges creative and academic domains, addressing themes of environmental sustainability, materiality in photography, and the ethical dimensions of depicting animals. She actively engages with contemporary debates around art's role in societal issues through exhibitions, symposia, and collaborative research projects.
