Katrine Riklund is Professor of Diagnostic Radiology at Umeå University's Faculty of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Diagnostics and Intervention. Since 2016, she has served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor with strategic oversight of research, doctoral education, and internationalization in medicine, natural sciences, and technology. She maintains dual roles as Senior Consultant Physician at Norrland University Hospital.
Her research specializes in hybrid imaging techniques (PET/CT and PET/MRI) to visualize biochemical processes in neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. Primary foci include dopaminergic function mapping in aging/dementia, Parkinson's disease mechanisms, and precision oncology applications for prostate/colorectal cancer. Recent publications demonstrate strong emphasis on longitudinal neuroimaging biomarkers, AI integration in radiology, and dopamine receptor dynamics across the lifespan.
