About
Katrina Barron is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics. Her research focuses on vertex operator algebras, representation theory, and mathematical physics, with particular emphasis on Zhu algebras, conformal field theory, and algebraic structures in theoretical physics. She has been recognized for her advocacy for gender equality and mentorship in algebraic disciplines.
Her work includes studies on graded pseudo-traces, Heisenberg and Virasoro algebras, and permutation-twisted modules in vertex operator superalgebras. She has contributed to conferences such as the Lie Algebras and Vertex Operator Algebras conference at the University of Notre Dame.
In 2025, she was honored as a Fellow of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) for her sustained commitment to advancing women in mathematics through mentorship and leadership in academic initiatives.
