Associate Professor Katrin Sjoquist is a Senior Research Fellow and Clinical Lead at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC), part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. She is also a practising medical oncologist specializing in gastrointestinal and rare cancers. Since joining the CTC in 2010, she has focused on clinical trials in oncology, earning a PhD in clinical trial design and evaluation. Her roles include coordinating the AGITG trials and leading the Cancer Australia-funded Genomics Cancer Clinical Trials Initiative (GCCTI) and the Molecular Screening and Therapeutics (MoST) programme.
Research Interests: Design and management of Phase II/III clinical trials, evidence-based medicine, gastrointestinal and rare cancers, and evaluating treatment benefits versus harms. Her work spans oncology drug development, precision medicine, and translational research.
Publications: Over 100 peer-reviewed articles, including high-impact studies in Journal of Clinical Oncology, Clinical Cancer Research, and British Journal of Cancer. Recent work focuses on regorafenib in gastric cancer, cell-free DNA biomarkers, and clinical trial methodologies.
Grants and Leadership: Principal investigator on grants such as the Biliary Tract Registry Development (2023), and leadership roles in international trials like INTEGRATE II and NuTide:121. Collaborates with institutions like the Garvan Institute.
