Prof. Dr. Katrin Rolka is the Head of the Mathematics Didactics Group (Gruppe Rolka) at the Faculty of Mathematics, Ruhr University Bochum. Her work focuses on innovative teaching methods, digital learning materials, and bridging school-to-university transitions in mathematics education. She collaborates closely with schools and institutions like the Alfried Krupp Schülerlabor to develop project-based learning initiatives in geometry, stochastics, and applied mathematics.
Research interests include diagnosing student learning needs, fostering inclusive teaching practices, and evaluating digital tools with automated feedback systems. She oversees master’s theses in mathematics education and contributes to teacher professionalization programs. Her team also addresses dropout prevention in higher education and the integration of computational thinking in mathematics curricula.
Prof. Rolka’s group maintains close ties with educational stakeholders, hosting workshops on digital tools (e.g., STACK platforms) and presenting at conferences like the GDM Annual Meeting. The team’s activities are housed in Building IB, Room 1/131, on the RUB campus.
