Katrin Karu is a Lecturer at Tallinn University since 1997, specializing in andragogy and serving as a key developer of andragogy curricula. She leads university-wide initiatives for teaching staff professional development with a strong emphasis on collaboration and inclusion.
Her research centers on educational dynamics in higher and adult education, particularly students' perceptions of learning, lecturer professional development frameworks, and non-formal learning methodologies. She extends this work to future investigations of communities of practice in organizational learning contexts.
Karu supervises bachelor's and master's theses while actively developing continuing education programs including university didactics training and trainer development. Her professional influence extends to founding the Estonian Association of Andragogy Teachers and shaping national standards for adult educator qualifications.
