Katrin Erk is a Professor in both the Departments of Linguistics and Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin. She is affiliated with the UT Austin NLP and computational linguistics groups, focusing on computational semantics and lexical semantics. Her work explores polysemous words, word embeddings, narrative schemas, and integrating flexible word meanings with sentence-level logic-based representations.
Her research interests include understanding how context modulates word meanings, analyzing narrative patterns in text data, and developing theoretical frameworks for graded semantic representations. She actively contributes to the Natural Language Learning reading group and is part of interdisciplinary collaborations between Linguistics and Computer Science.
Office locations include 4.734 Patton Hall (RLP) and B5100 at 305 E 23rd ST, Austin. Fall 2024 office hours are Tuesdays 9:45-10:45, Wednesdays 10-11 and 3-4.
