About
Dr Katie Harris is a Senior Research Fellow at The George Institute for Global Health within the University of New South Wales' Faculty of Medicine. She is an accomplished Biostatistician and Epidemiologist with extensive experience in advanced statistical methodologies.
Dr Harris specializes in sophisticated statistical techniques including multilevel modelling, longitudinal data analysis, functional data analysis, and survival analysis. Her research program focuses on three critical areas of public health: sex and gender differences in health outcomes, cardiovascular disease and hypertension, and dementia and cognitive decline. These research interests address significant population health challenges with potential to inform clinical practice and health policy.
- Development and application of advanced biostatistical methods
- Epidemiological studies examining cardiovascular risk factors across diverse populations
- Investigations into sex-specific patterns of disease progression and treatment response
- Longitudinal studies of cognitive aging and dementia risk factors
With a robust publication record comprising 90 journal articles, 3 conference papers, 14 conference abstracts, 5 reports, 1 thesis/dissertation, and 2 preprints, Dr Harris has established herself as a productive researcher in her field. Her work demonstrates consistent application of rigorous statistical approaches to address complex health questions.
Dr Harris serves as a research supervisor for Higher Degree Research Candidates including PhD, Masters by Research, and Master of Philosophy students, contributing to the training of future generations of biostatisticians and epidemiologists. Her ORCID profile (https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2444-2869) provides a comprehensive record of her scholarly contributions.
