Katie Goodbun is a Lecturer in Social and Developmental Psychology at the School of Psychology, University of Kent. She serves as Director of Stage 3 and can be contacted at kjg30@kent.ac.uk.
Her research focuses on developmental intergroup processes, including mechanisms underlying prejudice formation and reduction. Key areas include implicit group theories, stereotyping, social dominance orientation, intergroup contact, empathy, peer relations, self-efficacy, political ideologies, out-group trust, and intergroup anxiety. Applied work involves collaborations with the Anne Frank Trust to evaluate prejudice reduction programs in UK schools, studies on smartphone/social media impacts on youth, and projects exploring how creativity and arts influence young children and families.
In teaching, she delivers modules such as Introduction to Social and Developmental Psychology, Child Development, Advanced Developmental Psychology, and Understanding Social Problems.
Current supervision includes PhD student Hannah Abolhasani.
