Katie Gallagher, MS ’15, CGC, is the Director of the Joan H. Marks Graduate Program in Human Genetics at Sarah Lawrence College, effective May 2024. As an alumna and former assistant director (since 2016), she has held roles including clinical supervisor, course instructor, and program leadership. She is a certified genetic counselor with expertise in clinical pediatric genetics, laboratory genetics services, and genomics research. Her career spans roles at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (NYCKidSeq genomic research) and Invitae Corporation.
Education: BS from Laurentian University and MS from Sarah Lawrence College.
Research interests focus on advancing genetic counseling education, promoting diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), and innovation in genetics. She teaches courses like Clinical Pediatric Genetics and Medical Genetics Seminar. In 2020, she received the program’s Distinguished Teaching Award for her instructional contributions.
Key responsibilities include maintaining program integrity, fostering alumni engagement, and driving DEI initiatives within the genetic counseling profession.
