Kathy Young

Kathy Young, M.D., serves as Director and Term Assistant Professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) WWAMI School of Medical Education and Foundations Assistant Dean at the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine. She holds a Clinical Assistant Professor title in the Department of Family Medicine at UW. Her roles include leading clinical medicine education programs, mentoring students, and directing primary care initiatives in Alaska.

Education: MB, BCh, BAO (MD equivalent) from Trinity College Dublin (1990), followed by residencies in Pediatrics and Family Medicine in Ireland and the U.S. She has held clinical roles as a Family Practice Physician in Alaska and Washington since 1995.

Research interests focus on asthma care, medical education, and primary care delivery in underserved regions. Her service includes leadership in asthma camps (e.g., "Champ Camp"), asthma advocacy through the Asthma & Allergy Foundation, and roles on hospital medical staff committees. She has chaired departments and held executive positions at Alaska Regional Hospital.
