Kathy Korcheck is a Professor of Spanish in the Department of Language, Literature, and Communication at Central College, where she has been teaching since 2007. She holds a Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis and specializes in 20th and 21st-century Spanish literature and cultural studies, with a focus on comics, graphic novels, photography, and multimodal literacy.
Her research centers on autobiographical graphic travelogues, exploring intersections between visual narratives and personal identity in the Hispanic world. She actively integrates podcasts, music, short films, and visual arts into her Spanish language and culture courses, enhancing student engagement through multimedia pedagogy.
Korcheck has published in significant academic venues such as Hispanic Issues On Line, Letras Hispanas, and the Arizona Journal of Hispanic Cultural Studies, as well as in the edited collection (Re) Collecting the Past: Historical Memory in Spanish Literature and Culture (2017).
