Kathy Dunning

Dr. Kathy Dunning serves as dean of the School of Business (also known as Grace Pilot School of Business) at the University of Mobile, where she is beginning her 28th year of service. As an academic leader, she oversees business programs that integrate practical experience with Christian ethical principles.

Dr. Dunning holds a Doctorate with specialization in Accounting, a Master of Business Administration with concentration in Accounting, and multiple professional certifications including Certified Managerial Accountant, Certified in Financial Management, and Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis. Her educational background bridges professional practice and academic scholarship.

Her research interests center on accounting practices, business ethics from a Christian worldview, tax compliance and planning, and the integration of faith with business education. She emphasizes preparing students to be both skilled professionals and ethical decision-makers who serve with a Christian perspective in the business world.

As dean, Dr. Dunning leads initiatives such as the student-led Good Work Agency, which helps low-income citizens prepare tax returns, organizes community clothes closets, and supports nonprofits. She is deeply committed to the University of Mobile's mission of preparing students to be 'good citizens, making ethical business decisions through the lens of a Christian worldview.'

Dr. Dunning previously worked for two international, publicly-traded corporations in tax compliance and planning before transitioning to academia. She embodies the university's commitment to developing 'Kingdom leaders' who excel professionally while maintaining strong Christian values.
