Kathryn Riley is Associate Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Swarthmore College, with joint affiliation in Environmental Studies. Her research develops in situ analytical methods for characterizing nanomaterial transformations in biological/environmental systems, focusing on silver nanoparticles and microplastics.
She founded the Primarily Undergraduate Nanomaterials Cooperative (PUNC) to advance nanomaterial research at PUIs. Recent publications demonstrate innovations in capillary electrophoresis techniques for nanoparticle separation and toxicity assessment, plus educational experiments for analytical chemistry.
