Kathryn Adamson

Dr. Kathryn Adamson is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her research focuses on Quaternary environmental change, glacier dynamics, river behavior, and landscape evolution, with fieldwork in the Arctic, Mediterranean, and Egypt. She employs techniques such as geomorphological mapping, sediment analysis, and geochronology. Dr. Adamson also engages in science communication through media, curriculum development, and interdisciplinary collaborations.

  • PhD in Physical Geography and Quaternary Science (2009-2012), University of Manchester

Her research projects include studies on Mediterranean river systems, Greenland/Iceland ice cap dynamics, and Holocene climate impacts, funded by EU-INTERACT and collaborations with institutions like the University of Copenhagen and Liverpool John Moores University. She teaches undergraduate units in Earth Surface Processes, Quaternary Environments, and glacial systems.

Dr. Adamson advises three PhD students and contributes to public outreach via blogs, educational resources like Climate Explorers, and media engagement with BBC, The Guardian, and others. She designs science communication training for geoscientists globally.
