Kathleen Millar is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Simon Fraser University (SFU) and an associate member of the School for International Studies. She co-edits the journal Anthropology of Work Review and previously held a postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University. Her research focuses on labor, economy, and urban life in Latin America, particularly Brazil.

Her research examines the intersections of informal economies, urban marginality, and capitalist structures through ethnographic fieldwork in Brazil. Current projects include studying Brazil's consumer debt crisis and Brazilian emigration to Canada.
Peer-reviewed publications highlight themes of climate change, racialization, precarity, and ethnographic methods, with a focus on garbage dumps, informal economies, and labor dynamics in Latin America. Her work often bridges anthropology, sociology, and critical theory.
