Kathleen McInerney

Kathleen McInerney is a Professor in the Department of Education at Saint Xavier University. She holds a Ph.D. in Language, Literacy, and Culture from the University of Iowa and an M.A. in English from SUNY Fredonia. Her research focuses on ESL/EFL education, multicultural education, and sociolinguistics, with an emphasis on social contexts affecting emergent bilingual learners. She teaches pre-kindergarten through graduate levels and leads a TEFL Certificate program in Cuenca, Ecuador. McInerney also supports trilingual education initiatives and provides professional development for English teachers globally.

Her research interests include power dynamics in education policy, narrative/auto-ethnographic methodologies, and integrating Mercy values in community-based learning. She has received notable awards such as the Fulbright Specialist Roster (2014-2019), Saint Xavier University Mission Award (2015), and Distinguished Educator Award (2005).
