Kathleen Gordon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds a BAA from Ryerson University (1981), an MA from the University of Windsor (1995), and a PhD from York University (2002). Her research focuses on the anthropology of development, economic processes, labor practices, and household reproduction in Latin America, particularly Bolivia. She has conducted extensive fieldwork analyzing the interplay between local livelihood activities and broader political-economic systems in the Bolivian highlands.
Her work explores how retail vendors’ labor practices in market towns intersect with household dynamics and state policies.
