Kathleen Dolan

Kathleen Dolan is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She holds a PhD from the University of Maryland (College Park), an MA from the same institution, and a BA in Political Science from Providence College. Her research focuses on electoral behavior, gender and politics, public opinion, and legislative politics.

Dr. Dolan’s work examines how gender influences political attitudes, voting behavior, and candidate evaluations. She has published widely on topics such as gender stereotypes in elections, the role of #MeToo in shaping political attitudes, and the gender gap in political knowledge. Her research also explores the impact of gender on legislative representation and voter perceptions of women candidates.

Her most recent articles include studies on gun reform attitudes, the #MeToo movement’s political implications, and frameworks for gender-balanced political knowledge measurement. She has authored influential books, including *When Does Gender Matter? Women Candidates and Gender Stereotypes in American Elections* (Oxford University Press, 2014) and *Voting for Women: How the Public Evaluates Women Candidates* (Westview Press, 2004).

Teaching includes courses on American Government, Political Science Research Methods, and Women in Politics. She emphasizes the importance of gender analysis in political education and has contributed to debates on improving academic peer-review practices.
