Kathleen Callahan

Kathleen Callahan is a Senior Lecturer at Christopher Newport University's Department of Leadership and American Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education from Florida State University, an M.Ed. in College Student Affairs from the University of South Florida, and a B.A. in Sociology from North Carolina State University.

Her research focuses on leadership development through pop culture, gender and leadership, internationalization of higher education, and servant leadership. Notable works include analyzing representation in media for leadership identity development and exploring storytelling in pop culture for social justice values.

Dr. Callahan was honored with the 2019 Faculty/Staff Member of the Year Award by CNU Greek Life. Her teaching spans leadership studies, higher education policy, and student affairs practices. She has contributed to peer-reviewed journals like New Directions for Student Leadership and Asia-Pacific Journal for Student Affairs.
