Dr. Kathleen A. Becker is an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Biomedical Science and Engineering, University of Maine. Her research focuses on novel mechanisms of bone formation, osteoporosis, and the role of cell signaling proteins in osteoblasts, particularly under peripheral nerve injury. She leads a collaborative lab environment involving undergraduate, medical, and graduate students.
Education: Ph.D., University of Wisconsin-Madison (2010); B.S., Bucknell University (2005).
Research is funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), Support for Research Excellence Program (R16), and the Center for Cell Signaling at the University of New England. The lab seeks to identify therapeutic strategies for osteoporosis and fracture prevention.
