Katherine Sharp

Katherine Sharp is a Clinical Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Behavioral and Community Health at the University of Maryland's School of Public Health. She holds a B.S. in Community Health Education from University of Maryland, College Park (1990), an MPH in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education from Emory University (1996), and a Ph.D. in Health Promotion from Kent State University (2005).

Her research examines health communication strategies, health behavior theory applications, and stress/coping mechanisms in women's health contexts. She specializes in developing social marketing approaches for health promotion and medication adherence interventions.

Research leadership includes directing multi-year practice transformation initiatives like Flip the Pharmacy Pennsylvania. She secured over $250,000 in grants from organizations including the Community Pharmacy Foundation. Award recognition includes Pharmacist of the Year (PPA, 2020) and Distinguished Young Pharmacist (2013).

Practice transformation work focuses on implementing comprehensive medication management services and value-based care models in community pharmacies. She collaborates with health systems to develop sustainable reimbursement models for pharmacist-provided care.
