Katherine Ramos

Dr. Katherine Ramos is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. She holds a PhD and teaches courses such as Introduction to Engineering Computing, , and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) & Fabrication. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes student-centered learning, alternative grading practices, and equitable pedagogies, particularly through Objectives-Based Grading focused on mastery learning and student success.

Her research interests include sustainability integration in engineering education, alternative grading strategies, and fostering inclusive learning environments. She has received grants such as the DEI Action Grant (2024) and Engineering for One Planet Mini-Grant Award (2023).

  • Faculty advisor for CU Boulder’s Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and Grad-SWE.
  • Member of the CU Boulder Faculty Governance Council (FGC) as At-Large Representative and Secretary.
  • Active in the Inclusive Culture Council and Teaching Affairs Committee at CU Boulder.
