Katherine Guttmann

Katherine Guttmann, MD, MBE, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She combines her clinical expertise as a neonatologist with research focused on improving communication and care for neonatal and pediatric serious illness.

• Educated at the University of Pennsylvania (MD, Master of Bioethics)
• Completed Pediatrics residency and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

Her research explores parental perspectives on NICU communication, goals-of-care discussions, serious illness communication training for clinicians, and definitions of neonatal serious illness. Funding includes a KL2 award from NIH, a National Palliative Care Research Center grant, and institutional support from Mount Sinai.
