Katherine Frye

Katherine Frye is an Assistant Professor in School Psychology at the University of Kentucky. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida (2022) and completed her APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. Her work focuses on culturally responsive social-emotional learning (SEL) assessments, connections between social-emotional development and academic success, and equitable assessment practices for LGBTQ+ students. She teaches core courses in cognitive assessment, legal/ethical issues, and advanced assessment methods.

Her research includes roles as Senior Project Coordinator for the ACES-2 IES Goal 5 Measurement Grant at Penn State University. Her publications span psychometric evaluation of assessment tools, generational social skills analysis, and SEL framework policy analysis. Her work emphasizes improving assessment equity through culturally responsive methods and addressing systemic gaps in educational evaluation practices.
