Katherine Exss Cid

Katherine Exss Cid is a Professor at the School of Architecture and Design, Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV), with a PhD in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Bío Bío and an MA in Information Design from the University of Reading. She specializes in interaction design, user experience, and inclusive design, particularly focusing on technology mediation for vulnerable audiences.

• Thermal Comfort & Energy Poverty: Personalized comfort systems in Chilean housing for vulnerable populations

Recent publications (2023-2025) focus on cognitive accessibility in Chilean public services, thermal comfort for people with intellectual disabilities, and participatory design adaptations. Her work spans journals like Ergonomics, Building and Environment, and Interdisciplinaria, with book chapters on inclusive research and design philosophy.

She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in interaction design and service design, supervising projects on thermal comfort systems, digital co-design tools, and accessible urban navigation. Katherine leads the PICTOS service design project and contributes to the PUCV Interdisciplinary Nucleus for Accessibility and Inclusion.
