Katherine Emery

Katherine Emery is a Research Fellow at the Faculty of History, University of Cambridge, and a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow. Her work bridges medieval musicology, liturgical studies, and cultural history, with a focus on saints' cults, libraries, and identity formation during the Reformations.

• Education: BA in History (University of Exeter, 2014), MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies (University College London, 2015), PhD in Music (King's College London, 2021)

Her research explores interdisciplinary intersections between medieval music, liturgy, and historical identity, emphasizing the repurposing of medieval musical material during the Protestant Reformation. She has published extensively on Thomas Becket's cult and liturgical continuity.

Katherine is currently working on her monograph Beyond Martyrdom: The Musical Afterlife of Thomas Becket, 1170-1600, alongside her British Academy-funded project on sixteenth-century liturgical libraries.
