Katherine Cagney is a Lecturer in the Department of Arts at South East Technological University, Ireland. She serves as Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Psychology and teaches modules across diverse disciplines including Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, and Lifespace Interventions. Her academic mentorship extends to students in Early Childhood Care and Education programs.
Education: PhD in Psychology (2014, SETU), BSc Hons Psychology (2007, Open University), BSc (2004, Open University), Diploma in Sociology (2002, Open University).
Research focuses on interdisciplinary studies of family narratives, breastfeeding practices, children’s geographies, and qualitative methodologies like oral history. Current projects include an evaluation of ERT tutorial resources and a Broadcasting Authority-funded radio documentary on campus histories. Collaborations with Dr. Jacinta Byrne-Doran explore representations of breastfeeding in children’s literature.
