Katelyn Shepherd is a Clinical-Track Instructor of Nursing at Bluefield State University's College of Health Sciences. A native of Bluefield, WV, she holds a Master’s in Nursing Education from Walden University and is pursuing a doctorate there. Her certifications include Certified Nurse Educator and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. She also completed American Sign Language courses to better serve hearing-impaired patients.

Research & Advocacy: Her work focuses on bridging gaps in women’s health, diabetes, and psychiatric medicine. She authored children’s books addressing diabetes and vaping prevention, and hosts the podcast “The Gestational Diabetes Podcast” on Spotify to support women globally.
Experience: With nearly a decade in nursing, she has worked in Geriatrics, CCU, Emergency Department, Psychiatric Medicine, and Pediatrics. She emphasizes student-centered education, cultural sensitivity, and creating inclusive learning environments.
