Kate Shults

Kate Shults is an Associate Lecturer in the Film and Mass Media Program at the Nicholson School of Communication and Media, University of Central Florida. She holds both a B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Film from UCF. Her work focuses on Florida's cultural landscapes, digital imagery textures, and the use of obsolete video technology, exhibited in festivals like Antimatter Media Arts and San Diego Underground Film Festival.

Shults is Film Curator for Aquifer: The Florida Review Online and advises the Student Cinematheque. She actively participates in programming for festivals including Starlite Film Festival and Florida Film Festival Selections Committee. Her research explores avant-garde cinema histories and multimedia collaborations.

She has curated exhibitions across Central Florida and contributes to initiatives like Sunspot Cinema and Nicholson School committees, emphasizing experimental film practices and genre theory.
