Kate Pollard

Kate Pollard is a Lecturer in Music Education and the Music Education Coordinator at the School of Music, University of Nevada, Reno. She holds a BM in Music Education from the University of Delaware and an MM in Music Education from Ithaca College. Prior to her current role, she attended the University of Washington's music education Ph.D. program while supervising music student teachers there.

• Completed dissertation on mentoring relationships between music student teachers and mentor teachers
• Certifications: 2 levels of Orff-Schulwerk, 1 level of Kodály, 3 levels of choral music experience

Her research interests span a wide range of music pedagogy topics including educational assessment, children's musical culture, ethnomusicology in schools, and interactive whiteboard technology for classroom instruction. She has presented nationally on mentoring dynamics and pedagogical innovation in music education.

Pollard brings extensive teaching experience to her role, having instructed junior high choral and general music in New York, and elementary general music in the Seattle area. Her work emphasizes practical applications of technology and structured mentoring frameworks in music education.
