Dr. Kate Leader is a Senior Lecturer in Criminal Law at Queen Mary University of London. Her interdisciplinary research combines legal scholarship with performance studies to examine access to justice, litigant experiences, and criminal justice reform. She holds dual doctorates in law (LSE) and theatre/performance studies (University of Sydney).
Her current research projects include a study on lawyers' perceptions of magistrates (funded by SLS) and ESRC-funded work on defendants as victims. Dr. Leader's monograph 'Litigants in Person in the Civil Justice System' (Hart, 2024) presents groundbreaking oral history research.
