Kate Kline is a Professor and Coordinator of Curriculum at Western Michigan University's Department of Mathematics, where she also coordinates the MATH 1140/1520 Grow Your Own program. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Michigan (1994). Her research focuses on mathematics education across K-12 levels, particularly children's mathematical reasoning, curriculum implementation, and teacher development.
She co-directed NSF-funded initiatives like Renewing Mathematics Teaching Through Curriculum (middle/high school) and Implementing Investigations in Mathematics (elementary), training teacher-leaders. Recently, her work centers on preschool mathematics, designing early childhood courses for WMU and Michigan's MiSTEM initiative. She maintains active collaborations with Kalamazoo Public Schools through research and professional development.
