Kate Egan is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice programme at Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University. With over 25 years of experience as an artist, lecturer, and maker, she has taught across disciplines at MMU and other institutions.
Her research focuses on cross-disciplinary practice, particularly in textile arts and public installations. Egan has exhibited internationally and completed major commissions for public spaces, working on collaborative projects that blend traditional and innovative approaches.
In 2017, she was awarded a mini-sabbatical to develop 'smart textile' samples. She runs commission-based external projects connecting students with industry clients and has curated exhibitions showcasing staff and student work.
