Kate Averis is a Lecturer in European Languages and Cultures at the University of Western Australia (School of Humanities). She specializes in translingual and transcultural approaches to writing, focusing on contemporary women’s writing and gender studies across Spanish, French, and English. Her work bridges Latin American and Francophone literatures, with affiliations to research centers in London, Antioquia, and Bordeaux.
Previous roles include Lecturer positions at Universidad de Antioquia (2018–2023), University of London Institute in Paris (2013–2017), and teaching roles in France and the UK. She contributes to editorial boards and research initiatives on women’s writing and transnational literature.
Research interests include translingual Caribbean writing, women’s ageing in contemporary narratives, and Francophone identity. Her 51 publications span articles, edited volumes, and reviews, emphasizing gender, exile, and cultural hybridity.
