Katarzyna Alexander is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Nicosia, affiliated with the Department of Languages and Literature within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of York (UK) and an MA in English Philology from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Poland).

Her research focuses on phonetic perception and production in second language (L2) acquisition, particularly the voicing patterns of Greek Cypriot plosives and their influence on English spelling errors by Greek Cypriot learners. She also explores AI-generated text detection in L2 education and digital pedagogy, such as breakout rooms during the pandemic. Recent publications include studies on bidialectal speech perception, AI in higher education, and phonetics-spelling correlations in L2 learners using Exemplar Theory.
Her work spans linguistics, phonetics, AI in education, and digital pedagogy, with articles analyzing phonological contrasts, academic integrity, and virtual learning environments. She contributes to the Teaching English with Technology Journal as a long-standing editorial board member and has designed online courses in Academic Writing, Technical Writing, and English Phonetics.
