Dr. Katalin Maria Kincses is an Associate Professor at the Department of Early Modern History, Economic and Cultural History within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Károli Gáspár Reformed University in Budapest, Hungary. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, she has established herself as a leading scholar in Hungarian historical studies, particularly in the areas of early modern history, historical ecology, and military history.
Dr. Kincses completed her MA in History at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE BTK) in 1991 and earned her PhD from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1999 with a dissertation titled "Ecology, urban hygiene and healing in Sopron in the early modern period." Her academic journey has included positions at prestigious institutions including the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Historical Research Institute (MTA TMB), Eötvös Loránd University, and the Hungarian Military History Institute and Museum.
Dr. Kincses's research spans multiple interconnected fields that illuminate Hungary's rich historical tapestry. Her primary focus lies in medieval and early modern universal and Hungarian history, with particular expertise in historical ecology - examining the relationship between human societies and their environments throughout history.
