Katalin Halasz

Dr. Katalin Halasz is a Senior Tutor in Media and Communications at Brunel University London, affiliated with the Department of Social and Political Sciences in the College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences. Her research bridges affect theory, critical whiteness studies, and performance art, examining the intersections of race, gender, and nationalism through artistic methodologies.

Halasz's work explores racialized embodiment, gendered affect, and national identity via video installations, performances, and curatorial projects. Notable collaborations include You Are Invited (2023–2024) and Disobedient Bodies (2025). Her film The Bell Rings (2024) has received international accolades.

She has held academic positions at City University and Goldsmiths, and served as a postdoctoral researcher on the ERC-funded Politics of Patents project. Halasz co-curated Visualising Affect (2013) and is on the board of the International Visual Sociology Association and the Qualitative Research editorial team.
