Kata Sebök

Kata Sebök is a Research Fellow at the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics, University of Vienna, where she teaches mathematics education courses for secondary school teacher accreditation programmes and conducts research on teacher-student dynamics in mathematical learning.

Her research focuses on:

• Preservice mathematics teachers' relationships with mathematics
• Challenges in university-level mathematics teacher training
• Epistemological and sociological dimensions of mathematics pedagogy
• Philosophical ethics in educational research involving teachers
• Historical foundations of mathematics education science

Building on her doctoral thesis examining whether preservice teachers develop greater appreciation for university mathematics through task-awareness training, Dr. Sebök now employs qualitative exploratory methods to investigate multi-layered phenomena in teacher-mathematics relationships, welcoming collaborations with researchers in related fields.
