Kaspars Kovaļenko

Kaspars Kovaļenko is a Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, and has served as its Dean since 2018. His research focuses on the One Health concept, antimicrobial resistance, infectious diseases in livestock, and sustainable livestock production frameworks.

He has led national and international research initiatives including:

• 2019: Sustainable pig farming without antibiotics
• 2020: Mycoplasma bovis vaccine impact on antimicrobial resistance
• 2023: Methodology for calculating economic losses from animal diseases

With 19 SCOPUS-indexed publications and an h-index of 9, his recent work examines zoonotic pathogens and antibiotic resistance in food-producing animals. He currently supervises four doctoral theses and contributes to European veterinary public health advisory groups.
