About
Dr. Kaspar Rudolf Dällenbach is a Tenure Track Scientist and Group Head of Aerosol and Health at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland, affiliated with the Laboratory of Atmospheric Chemistry. His research focuses on particulate matter (PM) health impact attribution, atmospheric processing effects on aerosol toxicity, and advanced characterization of aerosol molecular composition to inform pollution mitigation strategies.
His primary research interests include:
- Developing analytical methods for global PM source exposure assessment
- Advancing data mining tools for aerosol composition analysis
- Investigating oxidative potential as a health-relevant metric
- Source apportionment of organic aerosols across diverse environments
Recent publications (2024-2025) demonstrate strong emphasis on:
- Oxidative potential quantification and standardization
- Organic aerosol source identification in urban (Beijing, Delhi, European cities) and Arctic environments
- Integration of mass spectrometry, statistical modeling, and field measurements
- Health implications of biomass burning and incomplete combustion
He leads the Aerosol and Health research group at PSI, focusing on interdisciplinary approaches linking atmospheric chemistry with public health outcomes.
