Karyn Fay is the Director of the Medical Laboratory Science Program and a Teaching Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Michigan Technological University (MTU). She holds a BS in Medical Technology (1975) from Lake Superior State College and an MS in Biological Sciences (1989) from MTU, with a Specialty in Hematology (1993). Her professional certifications include Medical Technologist (MT, ASCP) and a Specialty in Hematology (ASCP).
Her teaching focuses on Hematology, Immunohematology, Clinical Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Administration and Management, and Medical Mycology/Virology. Prior to academia, she held roles across clinical laboratories, including Hematology Supervisor at Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center and positions in plasmapheresis, steroid chemistry, and microbiology in Virginia, Florida, and Arizona. She completed her internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, MI.
