Karsten Menzel

Prof. Karsten Menzel is the Chair of Information Technology in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (IT in AEC) at University College Cork (UCC), Ireland since 2006. He directs the MEngSc. IT in AEC programme, honored as Best Irish Postgraduate Programme in Science and Engineering (2014). His research focuses on Life-Cycle Management, BIM, and Building Performance, with secondary interests in distributed learning infrastructure. He coordinated the EU-FP7 project CAMPUS21 and led the SFI-funded ITOBO cluster (2007–2013).

• Former Feodor Lynen Scholar of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation
• Member of the European Construction Technology Platform and E2B group

Teaching includes Computer Aided Facilities Management, BIM, and Software Engineering. He also lectures at the University of Maribor, Slovenia. His qualifications include a Habilitation (DSc equivalent) and PhD from TU Dresden, Germany.
